Hooking up Troop 57's parade float at the storage shed at Cooper Concrete
(Thanks for letting us use the shed Mr. Cooper). |
||
"A Scout is ... faithful?" Yeah, OLD Faithful!
Here Come The Cubs! Directly in front of the Troop 57 float was Cub Scout Pack 1978. Their float had a distinct nautical theme. Both it and their boys looked pretty sharp! {You can see Troop 57's float directly behind them} |
||
Here Comes 57! The Scouts really went all out on the design of this year's float. The guys lashed together cedar poles to construct the framework. The poles were a result of an earlier service project Troop 57 did for the Heard Museum in McKinney. We removed the cedar from an area they are trying to restore to native prairie. |
||
Here are a couple of shots of the back of the float, showing off one of
the troop's hand crafted indian drums along with a model teepee. {You can also see one of our troop totems lashed to a pole} |
||
"A Scout Is Helpful ..."
Starting off on the parade route {The boys and the float really looked great!}
Turning off 5th Street onto Walnut Avenue. {You can see where the boys lashed the troop's totems to the float} |
||
Of course not everyone could fit on the float at the same time. The boys had to take turns walking. {Now you guys know why we brought the water jug, it was HOT out there!}
"Hey, you know? The view's not too bad from up here!"
Coming through downtown, just about to make the turn onto Garland Avenue., right before coming up on Garland High School. {Go Owls}
A GOOD Friend Of Troop 57. For several years not only has he allowed us to build our float on his trailer, he also pulls it for us in the parade. Thanks, Mr. A!
The home stretch, nearing the end of the route. Here the float passes in front of Garland High School. |
||
Turning off the parade route into Central Park.
End of the line, guys! |
